簡介：

The Divine Word Missionaries (聖言會, Missionarios do Verbo Divino; SVD = Societas Verbo Divino) were founded in 1875 by the German priest and teacher of mathematics and science, Saint Arnold Janssen in Steyl, Netherlands.

Today nearly 6000 Divine Word Missionaries from 76 nationalities serve in 79 countries to witness the Good News as the 6th largest male religious congregation in the Catholic Church.

Upon invitation of the Bishop, SVDs have been serving in Macau since 2007 in academic ministry, and in parish and special ministries, like hospital, caritas, or prison, and in migrant ministry, especially for Vietnamese and Indonesian migrants, and since 2026 also for Philippine migrants.

Important for the SVD Spirituality and mission is to build trust and bridges between cultures by living in intercultural communities. It is also important for SVDs to foster collaboration with local lay mission partners in order to witness the Good News together more effectively.

Mission methods or "Characteristic Dimensions" of SVDs are Mission Animation, Bible Apostolate, Communication, and JPIC, the promotion of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. And above all the practice of Prophetic Dialogue as a respectful way of interacting with people of other cultures and faith traditions. SVD missionaries share the Gospel while listening, learning, and standing in solidarity with the marginalized and poor of the society, rather than imposing beliefs.
